Ryan Becker_Absurdity

Absurdity is a podcast hosted by Ryan Becker. Upon starting his pastoral ministry back in 2016, Ryan realized that he has an audience— not because he is an Instagram influencer or the like— but because he consistently pushes out content as a church pastor. Ryan made it his mission to amplify important voices that need to be heard and use whatever platform God has given him to push conversation on Christianity and social awareness forward. By starting from the place that everything is absurd, he believes we can begin to listen more intently and love more patiently.

So why not start a podcast?

Since then, Absurdity has a grown from the thoughts and musings of a single man with his laptop to include a co-host, Tony Anobile Jr., and quality podcasting microphones. The podcast has also developed from sporadic installments downloaded by a handful of people to weekly scheduled episodes with over a thousand listeners spanning across the world! Join Ryan, Tony, and special guests as they navigate the absurd in life and religion.

The Absurdity podcast is free, and all episodes are available to download.

Let’s talk about things that matter.

Disclaimer: Please understand the views expressed on this podcast do not always necessarily reflect that of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. The perspectives shared on this podcast also do not reflect the views and stances of Southern Adventist University. There will be guests who directly disagree with established doctrinal teachings on issues or may not even know them. I seek to create and host dialogues on incredibly sensitive and challenging areas of culture, so some conversations may be rough around the edges and may make some uncomfortable. That's the point.

I ask for your prayers in this endeavor. At the end of the day, it is Jesus who must be uplifted and glorified.

Ryan Becker

Ryan is a Seventh-day Adventist ministry leader currently residing in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, he first moved to Tennessee in 2011 to attend Southern Adventist University. While working on his theology degree, Ryan got involved in a number of youth-focused projects, including the university’s Engage Ministries and the Southern Union of Seventh-day Adventists’ Young Adult Ministry. These early works deepened Ryan’s love of creating honest, open conversations regarding religion and social activism.

In his spare time, you can catch Ryan hanging out with his little button of a corgi or working on a sundry list of ministry-based projects. His most ambitious endeavor to date is to eat at a Chipotle in all 50 states— only 29 states left!

Tony Anobile Jr.

Tony first joined Absurdity on January 2018 for a special episode on church culture. The two co-hosts formed a bond in college while taking Intro to Ministry together and have remained close friends since. Their podcasting chemistry is a testament to their friendship, and it did not take long before Tony became a regular contributor on the podcast.

Tony served as a pastor in the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists before moving to Michigan to complete his Master of Divinity at Andrews University. Although he is passionate about church ministry and mentoring, Tony is also an avid fan of archeology, literature, pop culture, and acting. A perfect day in his book would include sunshine and surfing in Kauai.
